Heritage Round to finish season for West Wyalong

IN FRONT of a packed local crowd, the West Wyalong Weevils put the finishing touches on their regular season with a polished 31–19 win over the Condobolin Rams in a high‑quality South West Oils Rugby Union First Grade match last weekend.

Coming off a shellacking the weekend before, Sterling Ross’s men were aiming to bounce back for the final home game of the year and hoping to end a challenging campaign on a high. They started brightly before the Weevils faithful and played with intensity. Cr

Not to be outdone, the Rams were always in the hunt and made West Wyalong fight for everything. It took a double to classy fly half Luke Chandler-van vilet in the end to go with another good shift with the boot by centre Myles Harland to help the Weevils over the line in one of the sides better displays of 2025.

It was a hard-fought battle, with the Rams chasing the scoreboard throughout and the Weevils ultimately securing a well-earned victory on home turf. For now, the drought continues for West Wyalong but the signs of a better 2026 were there for all to see.

Now all eyes will be on the Redbacks as they aim to replicate their 2017 run. The Women’s side has finished worthy minor premiers and will play Temora in a grand final qualifying major semi next weekend.
