West Wyalong Show Society Wins $22,000 Grant for Community Development
Funds to help WWSS
IT was a morning of celebration and community spirit at the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation Brunch held during the Sydney Royal Easter Show, as the West Wyalong Show Society was named one of the 2025 Community Futures Grant recipients.
The Society received a $22,000 grant, proudly accepted by past President Robert Logg, in recognition of its dedication to enriching the West Wyalong community and preserving the cherished tradition of regional agricultural shows.
The funding, provided by the RAS Foundation, will go toward initiatives aimed at strengthening the local event, improving infrastructure, and enhancing community engagement. These improvements are vital for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the West Wyalong Show, which continues to play an essential role in bringing together locals and showcasing the heart of the region’s agricultural heritage.
“It’s a tremendous boost for our community. This support allows us to invest in our facilities and programs that bring people together and celebrate what makes regional life so special," a post said on their Facebook page.
Also honoured at the brunch were the Tumut Show Society Inc, which received $15,000, and Woodstock Memorial Show Inc, which secured $20,000. The grants are part of the RAS Foundation’s broader mission to empower rural and regional communities across NSW through education, training, and grassroots initiatives.
RAS Foundation Chairperson Kate Lorimer-Ward said the 2025 Community Futures Grants were about more than financial support—they were about recognising the vital role show societies play in maintaining the social fabric of regional towns.
“These grants are helping to ensure that country shows - cornerstones of rural life - remain strong and vibrant,” Ms. Lorimer-Ward said.
“We’re proud to back communities like West Wyalong, Tumut, and Woodstock as they invest in their futures.”
With the funding now secured, the West Wyalong Show Society looks ahead to a busy year of planning and improvements, with renewed energy and support from across the state.
