GRAB the kids and dust off the hat - the 124th Annual West Wyalong Show is set to dazzle on Wednesday, 3 September 2025 at the West Wyalong Showgrounds.
Recognised as a shire-wide half‑day public holiday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, this year marks the first time the Bland Shire has formally provided time off to attend and enjoy the festivities across the region.
Festivities begin at 9:30 am with gates opening, but the official opening won't take place until 1 pm, held in the McCaskie Shed. The honour of declaring the show open falls to Ninoska Birchall, the renowned Young Woman finalist from Mudgee who represented her zone at the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
This year’s program offers a packed agenda for visitors of all ages:
Livestock and produce displays, showcasing the region’s best;
Young Woman and Showgirl/Boy competitions, with the Young Woman announced at the opening ceremony;
Horse and dog jumping events, including a Dog High Jump sponsored by Ag‑n‑Vet, RTM Tyres & Deans Livestock;
Fyfes Animal Farm and the ever-popular Comedy Duck Races, sure to entertain young and old alike;
The Young Farmer Challenge, proudly supported again by Quade Moncrieff, with an additional event tailored specifically for older farmers this year;
A lively Side Show Alley with rides, games, novelty stalls and more.
To make attending easier, pre‑purchase gate tickets are now available online or from the Show Secretary starting two weeks before the show. This option helps bypass long queues on show day. Pavilion exhibits can also be entered online via Showdayonline/show/westwyalong, with a small fee of 50 cents per entry imposed this year—part of a drive to help manage exhibitors’ budgets.
Ticket pricing includes:
Adults $20
Children (5–15yrs) $5
Pensioners $10
Family (2 adults + 3 children) $40
Pre‑paid ride coupons—30 tickets for $25—are available too, offering savings for active show-goers.
From its modest inception in 1900 to today, the West Wyalong Show has grown into a beloved local tradition, reflecting the vibrancy and resilience of the Bland Shire community. Organisers say it remains one of the region’s most cherished events, offering an affordable and entertaining day out for families and friends—from livestock enthusiasts to side‑show seekers.
This year’s West Wyalong Show is poised to deliver on all fronts: entertainment, agriculture, heritage—and heart. Make your plans early, pre‑book tickets or pavilion entries, and join in for a day that’s proudly local, proudly rural—and fun for everyone!
