It's do or die for WW men in 2025

THIS Saturday, the West Wyalong Weevils face a pivotal match-up against the Grenfell Panthers at home in the 2025 South West Fuels Cup Men's First Grade competition.

Currently sitting in sixth place, West Wyalong is determined to secure a win to close the gap on fourth-placed Young and fifth-placed Temora, who also face off this weekend. A victory would not only boost their points tally but also improve their points differential, which is currently superior to both Young and Temora, potentially giving them an edge in the race for a finals berth.

The Weevils come into this match with confidence following a solid away win against Condobolin last week. Their recent form suggests they are hitting their stride at the right time, making this encounter against the last-placed Panthers a must-win to maintain momentum and keep their finals aspirations alive.

The Weevils have had mixed fortunes this year. At times they’ve looked like the best in the competition and at others they have lacked cohesion. Sterling Ross and co though are all heart and they’ll be calling on that drive as they head towards the end of the season. There are six points between them and fourth placed Young and a big win will help their points differential cause.

Redbacks aiming for top spot on ladder

IN the Women's Super 10s competition, the second placed West Wyalong Redbacks are set to host the third-placed Grenfell Pink Panthers.

With a win, the Redbacks have the opportunity to leapfrog Temora, who are currently at the top of the table by a solitary point on 32 points provided Young can defeat the Tusker women. A victory would not only propel them to the top but also create further distance between themselves and the chasing pack, including Grenfell, Young and Boorowa. The Redbacks' impressive 85-5 thrashing of Boorowa last round showcased their attacking prowess and sent a strong message to their opponents.

As the season enters its final two months, both West Wyalong teams find themselves in critical positions. With finals approaching, every match becomes increasingly important, and this weekend's games could prove decisive in shaping the path to the post season.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support their teams as they aim to secure vital victories in their respective competitions.
