Walking and talking for a good cause

Two mates walking for 9 days after losing friend

WHEN Tony Hopper lost his fourth farming mate to suicide recently, he and good friend, Wayne Hueske felt compelled to do something. From that chat came ‘WalknTalk with a Farmer’ - an initiative designed to raise vital funds for Mongrels Men.

Two blokes. One big walk. One mighty cause. That’s how Tony (below) sees it as he gears up to begin his walk for charity with good mate Wayne from Walla Walla to Tallimba today - a journey that will see them arrive at the Tallimba Pub on Saturday July 12, with an afternoon of camaraderie and will include raffles and auction items up for grabs. (There will also be a bus from WW - call Michelle on 0427 753 445).

Wayne and Tony are hitting the road - walking 235km over nine days from Walla Walla to Tallimba - all to raise awareness and funds for rural mental health.

Starting 4 July 2025, they’ll pass through: Walla Walla (4 July); Henty (5 July); The Rock (6 July); Collingullie (7 July); Currawarna (8 July); Ganmain (9 July); Walleroobie (10 July); Ardlethan (11 July); Tallimba (12 July).

They’re walking for Mongrels Men, a grassroots charity helping prevent mental illness and suicide in Aussie men - especially in rural and farming communities.
