IT’S just two weeks until the most egg-citing event of the year – the 2025 Top Town Tavern Chicken Races! Set to take place on March 1, this annual tradition is once again set to bring laughter, competition, and plenty of feathers flying to West Wyalong’s favourite pub.

If you’ve never attended before, you’re in for a real treat. The Chicken Races are a family-friendly event where local chickens are the stars of the show, racing down a track in a hilarious competition that promises to have you clucking with laughter.

Get your friends together for a cluckin’ good time because there’s nothing like watching these feathered athletes go head-to-head. It’s a community event like no other.

This year’s race is already stirring up excitement, with many in the community wondering whether Barb Last will be back to defend her title. Last year, her chicken, Lil Pecker, dominated the competition, cooking the field and claiming the coveted top spot. Rumours are flying, but as of now, it’s yet to be confirmed if the reigning champion will return to take another crack at the crown.

But even if Barb and Lil Pecker don’t make a comeback, there will be plenty of other contenders ready to ruffle some feathers and claim victory.

The atmosphere is always electric, and the crowd’s energy makes the day even more memorable. So, whether you're a seasoned Chicken Races fan or a first-timer, there’s no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than watching the antics of these speedy poultry contestants, while cracking a few cold ones with mates.

So stop being a cock-a-doodle don’t! Come down and join in the fun! This event is more exciting than finding out your ex is dating a rooster – and trust me, that’s foul play you don’t want to miss!”

With just two weeks until the big day, now’s the time to mark your calendars, rally your friends, and get ready for a fun-filled day of chicken races, laughter, and community spirit at the Top Town Tavern Chicken Races.

Don’t miss out – see you on March 1!
