Timmy Mitton named 2025 Young Driver of the Year
Mitton choofed with gong for driving and transport work - off to US for tour

LOCAL transport operator Timmy Mitton has been named the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Young Driver of the Year Award by the NSW Livestock Bulk Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA), a significant honour recognising the next generation of leaders in Australia’s rural transport industry.
Timmy and his wife, Neeka, are the proud owners and operators of T & N Mitton Transport Pty Ltd, a hardworking family-run business based in West Wyalong. Together, the pair has built a reputation for reliability, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the rural transport sector.
The award, proudly sponsored by National Transport Insurance (NTI), Haulmax Tyres (ATT), and Toowoomba Truck Specialist Centre (TTSC), was announced earlier this month during the National Rural Carriers Convention held in Canberra on April 4–5. Finalists are selected not only for their clean driving records, but also for their contributions to industry safety, innovation, and advocacy.
“It was an incredible honour just to be nominated,” said Timmy.
“To be named the winner among so many skilled young drivers is humbling. I’m grateful for the support of my family, our community, and the wider industry.”
As part of the award, Timmy will embark on a $7,000 industry study tour to the United States, where he will have the opportunity to explore new transport technologies, safety innovations, and global best practices.
Timmy is also a dedicated committee member of the LBRCA, a statewide organisation that works closely with Transport for NSW, local councils, animal welfare groups, and grain handling bodies to improve conditions for rural transport operators. The Association plays a vital role in advocating for safer roads, more equitable access for heavy vehicles, and better public understanding of the transport sector’s challenges and importance.
“The transport industry has so much to offer young people,” said Timmy.
“Yes, there are challenges – but it’s a career that’s rewarding both personally and financially.”
With trailblazers like Timmy Mitton steering the way forward, the future of rural transport in New South Wales looks to be in very capable hands.
