THIS June long weekend, Tallimba Public School will mark a significant milestone - its 100th anniversary. Established as a provisional school in April 1925, the school has been a cornerstone of the Tallimba community, providing education to generations of students. Despite its small size, with six current students, the school holds a sentimental place in the hearts of many.

Centenary Celebrations

The centenary celebrations will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The school will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the official opening ceremony commencing at 11:00 AM. Attendees can enjoy performances by members of the Griffith, Leeton, and West Wyalong Town Bands, adding a musical touch to the day's events. The Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association will run a stall offering sausages, slices, and drinks, providing refreshments throughout the day. Additionally, a variety of market stallholders will be present, offering a range of goods and crafts.

In the evening, a ticketed Centenary Dinner will be held at the Tallimba Public Hall from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Tickets for this event have already sold out, reflecting the community's enthusiasm and support for the school's centenary.

A Legacy of Learning

Oliver Reid, a current Year 1 student at Tallimba Public School, is the third generation of his family to attend the institution. His presence underscores the enduring legacy of the school within local families. Over the years, the school has adapted to the changing needs of the community, continuing to provide quality education to its students.

The school has recently completed the repainting of three murals, which are expected to be completed by Tuesday, June 10, 2025. These murals serve as a visual representation of the school's rich history and the artistic talents of its students.

Community Involvement

The Tallimba Public School community has shown strong support for the centenary celebrations. The P&C Association has been instrumental in organizing the events, ensuring that the day will be memorable for all attendees. For more information or inquiries, the school can be contacted at (02) 6975 7251.

As Tallimba Public School celebrates its 100th anniversary, it reflects on a century of educational excellence and community spirit. The centenary celebrations are a testament to the school's enduring presence and the lasting impact it has had on generations of students and their families.
