THE West Wyalong Harness Racing Club celebrated the first meeting of the 2025 season on Sunday, May 11, with a spirited turnout and a local driver stealing the spotlight.

The event was marked by community enthusiasm and a notable performance by local driver Steve Maguire, who secured a race double with his two rides - Louis the Legend who won Sarby’s 2140m Race 4 for the Maguire clan followed by Otto’s Wealth, who took out Race 7 over a 1740m carry sponsored by Judds.

The atmosphere was electric as families and racing enthusiasts gathered at the showground, enjoying the day's races and the camaraderie of the small-town event. The club expressed their gratitude to the attendees, stating -

“A huge day for our first races of the year! We thank everyone for coming and we will see you all again next Sunday, May 18th, for our second meeting,” said a post on the West Wyalong Harness Racing Facebook page.

The club also took a moment to acknowledge the vital role of mothers in the community, especially on this Mother's Day, saying,

“Happy Mother’s Day to all, it takes a village to have races in our small community. Thank you! ”

Looking ahead, the West Wyalong Harness Racing Club invites all to join them again on Sunday, May 18, for another exciting day of racing. For more information and updates, visit the official Australian Harness Racing website.
