TANYA Jolly, from the NSW Riverina region, has been elected the new president of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) of NSW.

The announcement was made last week at the CWA of NSW’s State Conference in Wagga after voting took place among the hundreds of delegates in attendance.

Tanya is a member of the Barellan CWA of NSW branch and has been an association member for 28 years. She’s held a range of executive positions, and has also held numerous executive roles at the Group and State level.

She said she was honoured to take on the role of CWA of NSW president and was committed to working hard for the association’s 8000 members.

“I’m so proud members have selected me to lead the CWA of NSW. It’s a real privilege and I’m looking forward to continuing the enormous progress that has been made by our members over more than 100 years,” Tanya said.

“At this year’s conference we’ve seen a record number of motions from our branches across the state, reflecting the range of concerns from our members. Advocacy is a passion of mine and I’ll be working hard to help initiate the changes and improvements our members are calling for,” Tanya said.

“Access to quality health care, the supply of secure housing, reliable telecommunications – no matter where you live in the state, and advocating for our farmers are issues I see as particularly important and which I’ll be working hard to take forward to policy-makers on behalf of our members and their communities.”

Outgoing president Joy Beames said it had been an honour to lead the association and she thanked members for their support during her term.

“I take great pleasure in welcoming Tanya as the next president of the CWA of NSW and I know she will gain as much from the role as I have. It’s an exciting time for our association and I’m pleased to continue being part of it.”
