Changing of the guard at Lions

THE West Wyalong Lions recently held their changeover, during which outgoing President Brian Piefke formally passed on his duties to incoming President Howard Mangelsdorf.

The special dinner was chaired by Lion, Bill Dean as David Bolte was also made a Life Member at the event last week for 39 years service including two years as President himself in 1990-91.

Bolte served on every committee during his time in Lions and is still Chairman of the Membership Committee. The only other current life members are Ross Armstrong and Lloyd Doel.

Bolte was moved by the announcement infront of a packed house and was presented his membership by popular member, Alex Maitland to a room of applause.

Other notable award winners were Brad Staniforth and Laurie Baker while Mangelsdorf was recognised for 10 years, John Hudson 35 years and Ross Armstrong 40 years.

The 62nd changeover dinner was held at the West Wyalong Bowling Club and also saw a new board elected.

Alan McGlynn is the new secretary while Ross Armstrong is treasurer and first vice-president is Ross Loudon. First year directors include Alex Maitland, Graham Reid and Jack Barron.

From all reports it was a fantastic evening and the Lions brand in West Wyalong is in good hands.
