IN a landmark moment for Western country rugby league, West Wyalong junior Ryder Pettit has officially signed a three-year development contract with the Sydney Roosters, one of the NRL’s most prestigious clubs.

The announcement was made last week by Caliber Sports Group, who confirmed the rising star’s deal via social media — sending waves of excitement through the Western Region rugby league community.

Pettit, a proud product of West Wyalong and the Western Region Junior Rugby League, has long been regarded as a standout talent. Known for his work ethic, humility, and hunger to improve, the young gun now has a golden opportunity to chase his NRL dream on one of rugby league’s biggest stages.

“This is massive for NSWRL country athletes and a moment of pride for the entire West Wyalong community and the Pettit family,” Caliber Sports said in a statement.

“We at Caliber Sports Group couldn’t be more excited to support, guide and protect Ryder as he begins this incredible chapter. The journey starts now — let’s go, Ryder!”

The news has been met with pride and celebration in Pettit’s hometown, where he is widely admired for both his on-field ability and off-field character. His signing serves as an inspiring reminder that elite talent can — and does — emerge from regional New South Wales.

As Pettit prepares to relocate to Sydney and link up with the Roosters’ development system, his story will no doubt motivate the next generation of country juniors dreaming of an NRL future.
